The Cartelier is a boutique art & design studio by Carly Kuhn, aka The Cartorialist. The studio brings Carly’s distinct artistic style to interiors with the launch of wallpaper. The studio debuts with a collection of wallpaper featuring eight original hand drawn designs. These designs artfully transform a space while still somehow evoking a neutral feel. The designs feel as though Carly has come into your home and drawn directly on to your walls or furniture. The studio, is about bringing to life Carly’s artistic concept “The Art of the Home” which she hopes will be infused across many different design categories over time.
Carly Kuhn, also known as @TheCartorialist, is a Miami-based artist & designer who has collaborated with an array of esteemed brands including Prada, Dior, Capitol Records and Oscar De La Renta. Born and raised in New York City, Carly graduated with a degree in Television, Radio, and Film from the Newhouse School of Communications at Syracuse University. She lived in Los Angeles for 12 years, working at CAA, and then in production and development in TV comedy. She also studied improv at the famed Groundlings theater, before she found her way into an unexpected career as an artist. A serious artist who doesn’t take herself too seriously, Carly’s work ranges from portraits and fashion illustrations to large-scale murals, restaurant menu designs, and logos. She is inspired by people and their quotidienne quirks & anxieties, pop culture (both old and new), antiques, slice-of-life stories, and the weird things she observes by being a New Yorker at heart who walks in any city. She lives in Miami with her husband, Danny, new baby, Oliver Leo and their dog Lucca. Today, Carly is expanding her work to live beyond the screen and page and onto walls and more with the launch of her own design studio, The Cartelier.
